The Fall Guide to Curly Hair
10/19/2020
Whether your washing, conditioning or styling —learn how to tame your curls as we say goodbye to summer and hello to fall.
Fall is the perfect time to begin taking extra care of your hair. During this season, curls can be prone to dryness from the change in temperatures. Now is the time to adjust your haircare routine to keep those curls healthy throughout the season.
Regular shampoo can lift the hair cuticles, leaving it dry and frizzy. Keep your curls hydrated by using shampoos free of salt and detergent. Apply a hair masque once a week to help retain moisture and defend against colder temperatures.
Using a conditioner is a must! Always apply conditioner and follow up with a wet brush or wide tooth comb before rinsing it out. If you aren’t washing your hair, simply wet it down, apply conditioner and style as usual.
Instead of towel drying, opt for a micro fiber cloth and blot to absorb moisture. Apply your favorite styling products and always remember to scrunch and squeeze upward toward the scalp.
To keep frizz at bay, let your curls rest and speak for themselves. Avoid touching and playing with your hair. Whether your sneaking in a nap or turning down for the night, don’t forget the must have – a silk pillowcase. A silk pillowcase will help in reducing wrinkles, split ends, but most of all, frizz.
Remember curly hair has the appearance of growing slowly only because it coils. You should continue to get regular trims every two months to promote health.
