Local Charities to Receive Over $18,000 in Donations from Douglas J

East Lansing, MI—January 8, 2012— Douglas J concludes its annual charitable giving for the 2012 holiday season with over $18,000 donated to local charities. Continuing a tradition of philanthropy and community support, the nearly 50-year-old beauty company donated a portion of sales to “Light the Way” for local non-profit organizations. Recipients included Michigan Shakespeare Festival, Michigan Urban Farming Initiative, A Spark of Kindness, HighSight and Carol’s Ferals.

For the 2012 Holiday season, guests and the community selected the organizations to partner with by online voting via Douglas J donated 5% off all local gift purchases from individual locations to each of the winning charities.

At the time, it was about offering jobs and a career to young stylists. Now we are able to touch the lives of other families in the area too,” says Douglas J President, Scott Weaver.

The Douglas J Light the Way campaign was created to spend the holiday season focused on helping our neighbors. It also provided an opportunity for Douglas J guests to feel good about knowing the gifts they purchased were not only a treat for their loved ones, but also a financial contribution that stayed in their local community.
