Downtown Okemos Revitalization Starts with Douglas...

Douglas J Aveda Development Plans

Meridian township to hold public hearing on Douglas J plans December 3

Okemos, Mich—November 15, 2012— Downtown Okemos will be receiving a face-lift soon starting with Douglas J’s new development plans. After 45 years within the Okemos community, Douglas J has aspirations to develop a 25,000 square foot, tri-level relaxation center blending beauty, spa and wellness into one, attractive facility in downtown Okemos.

The revitalization project would afford Douglas J staff to enjoy improved accommodations and guests will find better locker room facilities, saunas and a potential fitness component. The re-development continues Douglas J’s commitment to the environment featuring grey water recycling, LED site lighting, electric car charging stations and is Society of Environmentally Responsible Facilities (SERF) Certified. New jobs will be created through construction and for operational requirements.

The site plans also add a new gem to the Downtown Okemos corridor. Surrounded by historical sites and businesses, the new development enhances the current landscape and will bring additional consumer traffic to the area. Anticipated completion date of the re-development is mid-2014.

Current Douglas J Aveda Institutes are located in East Lansing, Ann Arbor, Grand Rapids, Royal Oak, Chicago (IL) and Knoxville (TN). Plans are underway to open a new salon in the greater Detroit market this fall.

The public hearing for the site plan is scheduled for Monday, December 3 at 3PM at the Meridian Township City Hall. For more information about Douglas J, visit www.douglasj.com.
