Local “celebrities” are gearing up to compete in the fifth annual “Dancing with the Local Stars.” The fundraiser is from 6:30 p.m. to midnight April 20 at the Kellogg Hotel & Conference Center, on the campus of Michigan State University. Guests will enjoy dinner, a live auction, dancing and dessert.
Emcees for the evening are Andy Provenzano, chief meteorologist at WILX-TV 10 and Chris Holman, publisher of Greater Lansing Business Monthly.
The 2013 cast of local celebrity dancers includes: Renee Branch Canady, health officer, Ingham County Health Dept.; Teresa Kmetz, president of Capital Area United Way; Kris Nicholoff, executive director, Michigan Osteopathic Association; Evan Pinsonnault, anchor at WLNS-TV 6; Walt Sorg, columnist for the Lansing City Pulse; Scott Weaver, president and CEO of Douglas J Companies; and Jessica Yorko, Lansing City Council 4th Ward Rep.
Tickets to the event are $125 per person; a reserved table for 8 is $1,000. Sponsorships are still available.
Proceeds will benefit Care Free Medical & Dental, a mid-Michigan nonprofit organization serving 5,000-plus patients without insurance or without access to affordable care.
